Temptations of Troms
- Seal flippers are cooked in gravy in springtime
- Kveiterekling are dried strips of halibut fat, eaten as snacks

Living the good life in the High North
The inhabitants of Troms are skillfull after work. Even in small communities, there are sport clubs, choirs and amateur theatre groups, and every village must arrange at least one festival annually. In Harstad and Tromsø, an ambitious cultural calendar is at hand, along with sports, a lively café scene, a selection of good places to eat and a humorous and inclusive nightlife.
The Taste of Troms
The richest seas in the world are off Troms. Cod, halibut, monkfish and coalfish are abundant, and shrimps and shellfish get succulent and firm in the cold waters of the north. Reindeer, moose, grouse, goat and sheep meat smell and taste of heather, birch and green grass.
In January to March, the cod spawns along the coast and mølja, the roe, liver and flesh of the cod mixed together, is a local favourite. Shellfish and shrimps are at their most succulent in winter. In summer, coalfish (saithe) is the favourite. In the autumn, look out for game.
