Sailing to Troms

In the age of aviation, the classic shipping line of Hurtigruten still connects Troms with the rest of the coast.

  • The first Hurtigruten ship called at Tromsø on the 4th of July 1893 for the first time.
  • Today, this legend calls at Harstad, Finnsnes, Tromsø and Skjervøy both heading north and south daily all year.
  • There is almost always room for an extra deck passenger, but cabins can be hard to come by on short notice in the busy summer season.
  • In winter, there is mostly plenty of room, and prices are more inviting.
  • From Troms, you can travel in style and comfort to popular northern holiday destinations such as the North Cape and Kirkenes in the north and the islands of Vesterålen and Lofoten towards the south.
  • The small writing: In winter, sailings may be cancelled because of maintenance. Even if the Hurtigruten tends to sail when the planes and grounded, even the Hurtigruten has to give in under the worst weather conditions. On very rare occasions, day passengers are not admitted because it is full.
